Yoga is a practice of presence, grounding and inner clarity. Through our creative direction, Selamta Yoga aims to create an evolved narrative about yoga and its history through an African centered lens. We will work to achieve this goal by using the power of visual narratives that invites ALL to connect with the essence of peace, breath and embodiment.

 

The ethos of Selamta Yoga is inner beauty. This will be evident in our larger future projects and endeavors.

All creative direction initiatives for Selamta Yoga shall be developed in the context of African ancestral memory. We recognize the power of storytelling and the preservation of culture to share a perspective that has been overlooked and deserves visibility. We will use various African stories carried through generations as vessels of wisdom and imagination, preserved by griots, as inspiration for the project that welcomes everyone into its spaces.

Selamta means "Peace Be With You" in Ethiopia and Eritrea.
